Caring for West London Smiles Since 1984

Our practice has cared for London, Ontario families since 1984, the year Dr. Giulio Spagnuolo graduated from dental school and began full-time private practice. More than four decades later, some of our patients have been coming to us for most of their lives, and one of our team members first walked through our door as a patient before joining the staff.

That kind of continuity shapes how we work. Our philosophy is prevention first. We look for the underlying cause of a problem instead of only treating the symptom, and we make patient education part of every visit, starting with the smallest teeth in the family. We take time to get to know you, so your care fits your needs, your schedule and your budget. And nobody gets a lecture about the last time they flossed.

We also love giving back. Each month, our practice donates to local mental health and food bank causes here in London.

Meet Dr. Giulio Spagnuolo, Lead Dentist

Dr. Giulio Spagnuolo, DDS, leads our clinical team. He was born and raised in London, and he has practised dentistry in his hometown for more than 40 years, providing preventive, restorative, cosmetic and family dental care for patients of all ages.

Education and Professional Background

Dr. Spagnuolo earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1984 from the dental school now known as the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. He has been in full-time private practice in London ever since.

He is licensed by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), the body that regulates dentistry in the province, and he is registered as a general dentist. If you like to check credentials before you book (a sensible habit), you can look up any Ontario dentist’s registration status on the public register kept by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Outside the office, Dr. Spagnuolo is a husband and the father of three grown sons, who are now starting families of their own. He stays active and values time with his family, which is part of why he understands how hard it can be to fit a dental visit into a busy family calendar.

A Calm, Patient-First Approach to Dentistry

Dr. Spagnuolo’s approach is calm and unhurried. He explains your options in everyday language and builds treatment around your goals and your schedule, not the other way around.

Here is what that looks like in the chair. Before recommending anything, he shows you what he is seeing, using digital X-rays and high-resolution intraoral photos on the screen beside you. We also use Overjet AI, software that reviews X-rays and highlights areas that may deserve a closer look. It works as a second set of eyes; the diagnosis still comes from the dentist.

When treatment is an option, he walks you through the choices, including the trade-offs of each one and, where it is reasonable, the option of monitoring an area and waiting. You receive a cost breakdown before treatment begins, without pressure to decide on the spot.

If dental visits make you nervous, tell us. Dental anxiety is common, and it does not have to keep you from getting care. We explain each step before it happens, keep the pace unhurried, and can talk with you about whether nitrous oxide (sometimes called laughing gas), a mild inhaled sedative, is appropriate for you.

Areas of Focus: Invisalign, CEREC Crowns, Implants and Sleep Apnea

Alongside everyday preventive and restorative care, Dr. Spagnuolo focuses on four treatment areas that come up often with patients at our London office.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign clear aligners use a series of clear, removable trays to move teeth gradually into better alignment. Treatment starts with a consultation and a digital scan on our iTero Lumina 5D scanner, which captures a 3D model of your teeth without trays of impression putty. Dr. Spagnuolo uses that scan to plan your tooth movements and to review whether aligners suit your bite. Invisalign can work for many teens and adults, although suitability and treatment length vary from case to case.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

A crown is a custom cap that covers and protects a damaged tooth. With CEREC same-day crowns, Dr. Spagnuolo scans the tooth, designs the crown on screen, and mills it from a block of ceramic right in our office. For many suitable cases, that means a finished crown in a single visit, with no messy impressions and no temporary crown to look after for weeks. Bridges and more complex cases may still need a temporary restoration while the final one is made.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are small titanium posts placed in the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots. Once healed, an implant can support a crown, a bridge or a denture. Implant planning in our office uses CBCT imaging, a 3D scan that shows bone height, bone width and nearby structures such as nerves and sinuses. For suitable cases, Dr. Spagnuolo handles implant planning, placement and restoration here in our office. Whether an implant is right for you depends on your bone support, gum health and overall health, which is why every implant plan starts with a consultation.

Sleep Apnea Oral Appliance Therapy

Obstructive sleep apnea is a sleep-related breathing condition in which the airway repeatedly narrows or closes during sleep. It must be diagnosed by a physician or sleep specialist, usually through a sleep study. Once a diagnosis is confirmed, Dr. Spagnuolo can assess whether sleep apnea oral appliance therapy may be a suitable part of your care. The appliance is a custom device worn at night that helps hold the lower jaw forward to support an open airway. The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine describes this treatment as a collaboration between your physician and your dentist, and that is how we approach it: Dr. Spagnuolo works alongside your sleep specialist, and follow-up visits help confirm how well the appliance is working for you.

What Patients Can Expect from Our Team

Dr. Spagnuolo works with a team of dental hygienists, dental assistants, patient care specialists, a treatment coordinator and front desk staff. Several have been part of the practice for many years. Stephanie, one of our patient care specialists, joined in 2001, and Lizette, our treatment coordinator, brings more than 20 years of combined chairside and administrative experience. You can meet the rest of our team before your first visit.

Your First Visit

A new-patient appointment is where we get to know your mouth and your history. It usually includes a review of your medical and dental history, an exam of your teeth, gums, soft tissues and occlusion (the way your teeth meet when you bite), an oral cancer screening, digital X-rays when they are needed, and a cleaning. Before you leave, we explain what we found and what, if anything, we recommend next.

Help with Insurance and Payment

We work with most insurance plans and submit claims electronically whenever a plan allows it. For larger treatment, our team can send a predetermination to your insurer first, so you know what is likely to be covered before you commit. We also accept patients using the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), and LendCare financing is available for patients without insurance benefits. Coverage always depends on your plan and eligibility, so we review the details with you rather than guessing.

Appointments That Fit Real Schedules

Our weekday hours include early morning and evening appointments on select days, which helps students, shift workers and parents who cannot step away at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday. If several family members need visits, mention it when you book, and our team will try to schedule you close together.

Care for Every Age

We see children, teens, adults and seniors, so the whole family can keep one dental home and one set of records as the years go by.
